Change Of Pace.

I did something I hadn't done in over 3 years. Every once in a while you need a change. I have been riding and racing single speeds for 5 years, and exclusively for 3 and a half. I know there are some out there that have been doing it a lot longer than I have, but for me I needed a change of pace.
So, I sold one of my beloved Spot frames and built this.
It has one of these doohickeys

Plus one of these thingamabobs.

The bike is not 100% where I want it yet, I am borrowing Marc's back wheel, while waiting for my new wheel set to come together. Plus the cranks are temporary.

I want to Thanks Peaches for hooking me up with some shifters and a rear shifting type gizmo.

I am still adjusting to this whole shifting thing, but it is coming around. My biggest issue so far is not being able to run my Jones Bars. I am trying to get used to these, but if it doesn't come around soon. I will have to change my rear shifting gizmo, and go with a set of these.

I will be giving this new ride a good test tomorrow at the Fair Hill spring race.

More to come,

Cheers,

Buddy

It Was not a Cross Race...

Yesterday was the official start of my racing season. Buddy and The Keg Breakers rolled into Marysville for the MASS Team Relay. I like the format, even if it doesn't suit my riding style. 4 people, 4 hours, short lap, do as many as you can. Mike Kuhn laid out an awesome course, one reminiscent of the old Middle Run. E Town led things off, followed by Peaches, Faticus, then myself. Ethan said he went youngest to oldest, I think he went lightest to heaviest, but I am OK with that.

We had a few other teams from the area, and everybody rode well. Like Marc said, it was good to see Rik out racing again. This day also brought Jay Jay back to racing. Everybody rode well and it was a good day.

I did make a few observations that day.

Despite his time off Rik is still really fast.
Despite, or because of, his fewer hours, Marc is still really fast.
Matt Ferrari is faster than me, he passed me on every lap.
Blair has joined the dark side, and realized, steel is Real.
As nice as Tom is, he can be a bully.

Next up, The Bakers Dozen, with Bike Line Rich. I am feeling better and looking forward to it.

Cheers,
Buddy
