FRANTIC!!!!!

The past couple of days have been crazy. I am trying to get ready for the 24 hours of Big Bear, sell a frame, and build a new bike, The Ionic is sold I am just waiting for the check, I have most of the things I need for the race. I finally got my new Kona built up, and then discovered a small crack on my Ti Desalvo. I almost cried when I realized my favorite bike of all time was cracked. I called Mike Desalvo and he told me to go ahead and race it then send it back when I get done. I think I will race the Kona and have the Desalvo as an emergency or parts bike. Yeah it sucks having a custom ti bike as a back up but what are you going to do.

I picked up a generator from Tom(team den mother). Then I went to Wooden Wheels to pop the headset into the new Kona. While I was there I loaded the trailer we are taking with the generator and a couple of pop up tents.

I got home and finished building the Kona and headed to The TNT ride. It was a small group tonight, Fuz, Paul, Jay, Matty T and kid Chris. The pace was not slow but defintiely milder. I felt good and I really liked the bike. It rides and handles nice. It should be good to race.

Tomorrow it is grocery shopping and packing.

Well I am burned out.
Thanks for reading,

Good Stuff...

This weekend was filled with Good Suff. Saturday we did another epic ride. We only hit 3 parks but we rode more single track and a did a bit more climbing. We had a great group of peolpe out; fatmarc hosted the event (meaning we rode out of his house), Alan the cleaner, Fuzzy, Matty T, Andrew(the proffesor), Slick Rick, Brent Biddle, and two special guests, Wes the super fast guy, and Marc's internet buddy Chris. Marc laid out a good course, we hit a lot of Fair Hill and all of White Clay. It is always fun to show people all the great trails we get to ride every day, and I think Wes and Chris enjoyed themselves. It was another brutally hot day, but after about 45 minutes I was ok, I mean I was hot but it didn't seem to suck the life out of me like it was earlier in the week. I was feeling good and was relieved to be riding well again. I am once again digging riding rigid, after 4 hours my arms didn't feel trashed.

As I said we seemed to do a lot of climbing. On our way up the Boundary Trail Matt did his thing and attacked, I said " don't worry he'll pop half way up" and I could hear marc saying "I am not going to cahse Matt". So I said " Ok, I will" and started to chase him down. I gained a good bit but was having a tough time bringing him all the way back, then just after the 2nd kicker Matt started to fade and I got around him. Marc thought once we caught him it was over but I wanted to be first to the top so I kept pushing, knowing full well I would pay for it later. These kind of antics went on all day. That is what makes our rides special. We all race and we are all very competetive. So as soon as some one goes it is game on. I am truly blessed to be able to ride the caliber of riders we have aroud here. There is a shit load of talent in our little nick of the woods, and you can't help but become a better rider. I am already looking forward to our next epic adventure.
The fun doesn't end with the ride. Later in the afternoon a group of us headed to West Chester to catch the twilight Crit. It was the first year for the event and they put up a lot of prize money to draw some bigger teams. The best part was it was sponsored by Iron Hill brewery. You could stand outside the restaurant and drink beer while watching the pros come by at 30 MPH, pretty cool. It was fun to watch a handful of guys I knew racing with the pros as well; Nick Shafer, Dan the man Wilson, Fergy, Blair(OH Canada), and John Royal, all hung tough and never got pulled.

Matt showing us strollers aren,t jusr for carrying babys.

Turn 3 at about 25-30 mph, sick

After the race we headed to a nice but slightly over priced Mexican place called Cyote something. The food was good, but I have had just as good for half the price. It was still fun, Rachael came with me and she seemed to enjoy the race, even though she missed the Belmont (she did catch the replay in Iron Hill) so it was all good. Well I must go now so thanks for reading.
