A Sad Day...

This is Missy, I have had Missy for 13 Years. Over the past few months the poor girl has been having a tough time and was in a lot of pain. Today I had to make the tough decision to have her put to sleep. I first met her at a farm in Maryland, her and her brothers and sisters were dumped there on evening. The owner of the farm went to the trouble to find them all homes. Times like this are very difficult, anyone with pets knows this. Thank You to my wonderful wife Rachael, she really helped me out today. I do not deal with this kind of stuff very well. Rachael took care of the hard part so I didn't have to. I know I should have been the one, but it is easier said than done. I am going to miss Missy a great deal. Sorry if I put a damper on your day but I had to post this to help myself.

On The Brighter Side...

This is Millhouse, he was given to us by a friend of Rachael's. He seems pretty cool but he is still a little nervous. Strider seems to love him, although he can be a bit obnoxious about it.

Rain, Rain, Rain...

Our region seems to be stuck in this rainy weather pattern. The sun hasn't been out for a week, and it has been off and on showers for the past few days. I have been jonesing to ride some single track. Matt (run forrest)called me today and mentioned a road ride. I suggested we ride from his house and check out White Clay. If it turned out to be too wet we could ride more fire road stuff. Thank God for our really dry summer because the 6 inches of rain we had over the weekend and the constant showers since have not hurt the trails at all. We were both surprised by how nice the trails were. They werwe barely even wet, and I only remember a couple of puddles. We had a great ride. We did about 30 miles in about 2:45. I didn't think the trails would be ready for a while, am I glad I was wrong. If we don't get a lot of rain the rest of the week we should be able to get in some good rides this weekend.
That's it for now,

Kennett Brewfest...

Neither rain nor sleet nor gloom of night could keep these beer lovers from the Kennett Brewfest. I want to start by saying, nice job to the folks that put this event on. They put everything under tents so the over 1000 people that showed up, some from as far as Montreal, could stay dry while they sampled some of the finest craft brewed beers in the country.

It started with the connoisseur tasting which was limited to 200 people. The brewers brought out there special stuff for this session. I enjoyed many fine brews including, Omegang's Omegeddon, Dogfish, Raison D'extra, and my favorite Stones, Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale ( I had quite a few samples of that one) The folks from the brewfest also provided plenty of water and food. In the past I made the mistake of just drinking beer. Not this time, I took in lots of water and kept munching on food. I am glad I did because I feel fine this morning.

After a brief break the main event started. There were dozens of brewers on hand. I tried at least one sample from each. I have to say I was impressed, I think there were only a couple of beers that were OK the rest were very good to awesome. I got to talk to a lot of folks, mostly because people kept coming up to me and asking, "Do I know you" Of course I didn't know any of these peolpe, but I introduced myself and talked a little. One couple in particular, (sorry I do not remeber there names) knew me from Henry's. They are both cyclist and very nice folks.

By 3:30 I had tried many different beers and was ready to go. I called my wonderful wife, who dropped me off and picked me up, and told her to pick me up at 4:00. Thanks Babe.

This event is growing bigger every year and the folks from the Kennett Historic preservation society that put it on do a fantastic job. They make improvements every year. You can bet I will be there again next year, hopefully I can drag some friends with me.
