Man, It's HOT!!!!

Independent Free Wheeling Chic L Webb and I went for a nice 3+ hour ride at Fair Hill this morning. Lauri who is fresh of a n awesome 3rd place finish at the Wilderness 101, On a single speed, Was riding very storng today. I must say it was really cool riding with L Webb, and having her on our team for 7 Springs is pretty cool. I have only done a handfull of 24 hour races and this will be the third one with Lauri. Hey, if you have to have a girl on your team why not have the baddest chic around, right. The ride was a blast today and we pretty much had the trails to ourselves. We hit the race course loop and added 5 bridges and Crackhead Bob. It was a great ride. I am feeling much, much better, no more stomach issues, and my legs felt great. We started the ride at 9:00am and by 10:00 it was already pretty fucking hot. The heat didn't seem to bother me as much todat either, I only hope this continues.

This shows the temperature outside on my deck, and no the sensor is not directly in the sun.

By the looks of things this heat wave will contiue. In my opinion this has been one of the hottest summers yet, and it is only August 4th. The hottest part of summer is still to come. On the bright side at least the trails are dry and fast.

That Explains It...

After Sewell I thought I was going to have to take a break and start over. Then I realized, I had been fighting a stomach virus leading up to the race. Which means I hadn't been eating a a whole lot of food. As a matter of fact the day of the race I had a bowl of cereal and half a sandwhich before the race and the cereal was 5 hours before the race. It is no wonder I bonked 2o minutes in. I rode with Matt (run Forrest) on Tuesday and felt much better. So now I am looking forward to redeeming myself at Susquehana.

I am now a Bum once again. I will be returning to work shortly but in the mean time I will take advantage and ride in the mornings. I am meeting L Webb at Fair Hill this morning, then I think I will come home and maybe do a little fishing, if it is not too hot.

Last night Rachael and I went to Iron Hill West Chester for dinner. I was very surprised that we had a 15 minute wait on a Wed. but that was OK. As always the food was good and I don't think I need to tell you about the Beer. After we took a short stroll around the block. West Chester is a pretty cool little town. Plenty of Freeks and Geeks to keep you entertained when all the shops are closed.

Well I have to go ride my bike now, so later and thanks for reading,
Buddy

Theres No Such Thing As An Easy Race...

Today was the Sewell, NJ race. I was hoping for a good result, but ended up having my worst race of the year. Some how I did manage to finish but it wasn't pretty. I felt Ok at the start and was in the main group, but after just 20 minutes I popped. I wanted to quit and go home with my tail between my legs, but I managed to suffer through all 4 lap. Granted we had a stacked field today with: Wes, FatMarc, Todd, Ransome, Topher, Tim, Big Ben, and a few guys I didn't know. Wes took the win, nice job dude, Marc was 4th, Topher 5th, Todd 6th and pulled in 8th out of 12 total. There were a few DNF'S as well.

I had full intentions of doing the remaining MASS races but I am now having second thoughts. My main problem is I got caught up in the points chase. This just adds extra pressure to each race, plus I feel like I have to do them all. I am giving up on the points chase and I will concentrate the rest of my season on Single Speed worlds and 7 Springs 24 hour race. It is time to step back and re-group.

There were a couple of cool things today. Rachael came out to the race with me, I really like having her there even if I am having a bad day. Chris Allen from Action Wheels gave me a much needed boost with the cheering on the steep climb, Thanks Man It did help a lot. As I was finally finishing my last lap I saw the only guy I was in front of trying to catch me. Just as this was going on Paul Sperenza caught me and I was able to jump on his wheel and drop the guy. Thanks Paul.

I was also feeling sick the whole race, at one point I almost puked. That feeling never really went away, I am sure that didn't help much. Well I am going to crash on the couch and call it a day.
