It has been almost 2 months since I went to friends house to use his set up to brew my first all grain beer. I went for a pretty hearty ale. It seems one of the brew masters at Russian River Brewing Co. published the recipe for there famous Pliny The Elder. This was my choice. It had a pretty large grain bill not to mention a whopping 13+ ounces of hops, which is a lot for a 5 gallon batch.
I also took the leap and kegged this brew. I knew it would take almost 3 weeks to fully carbonate, but I couldn't wait that long, and on Friday I had a pint. Oh My, it was way better than I hoped. The only bad thing is I have never had the original Pliny, so I am not sure how close it is, but I do know it is really Effin' good. By this weekend it should be down right outstanding.
I also started building my own 3 tap keggerator out of our old freezer, so now I have to get to brewing.
I also managed to have a pretty good weekend on the bike. French Creek Saturday, and a nice long solo ride on Sunday. I am hoping to put together a Labor Day 4 Park ride. We'll see.
Cheers,
Buddy
